about

I was walking towards the mountain before the leaves began to green the trees. You could see the bare earth up there. I turned onto Jeanne-Mance toward the warm yellow window of a friends apartment, writing this song in my head as I stood on the stoop looking back at the mountain again. I was thinking about throwing a skipping stone into the sea/sky and how people are like stones, books, and herbal remedies.

lyrics

Hello
Your window is
an open book

I read it
sentence by…

hoping to find you there
in the distance between

The skin of the mountain
is smooth and bare

like a skipping stone
rolled in the sea

I can hear you walking
I can hear you

You are a skip
You are a skipping stone

I treated you like an apothecary

Dream by dream ~
I read it sentence by sentence
There in the distance ~

about

Ohara Montréal, Québec

Ohara’s music has the beauty of a paradox: it’s both slow and upbeat, both vulnerable and resilient, both gentle and assertive – her vocals float out into the room with a tender clarity. Alone or accompanied by friends, Ohara Hale reveals the more tender and thoughtful aspects of her body of life-art-work. It’s a poem, a song, a leaf, a cloud. It is something you can hold, something you can have. ... more
